Roofs for Woofs is an all breed dog rescue - specializing in mutts (the original "designer dog!") And by all breeds, we mean all breeds, including Pit Bulls, American Bulldogs and other "Bully Breeds." We get the majority of our pets from Animal Control facilities in the area, but do take owner surrenders on occassion, when we have space. We are a foster-home based rescue, which means we do not have a facility. We do fill up quick because we have limited foster space. If you're interested in fostering, please let us know. We're always looking for temporary housing for puppies, adults, seniors, house-broken dogs, pregnant dogs, mom with puppies, orphans, etc. The typical time for fostering a dog can be anywhere from a week to a couple of months. We have saved over 370 dogs and puppies since February 2008, and we only have 5 foster homes on our best day. We could double that number with just 5 more homes. There are so many wonderful pets at shelters running out of time. These animals are desperate for a foster home in order to get a second chance. Because we are foster based, we do most of our adoptions by appointment, once an application is completed. Applications can be found under the link "Download Online Forms." We typically have families meet at the foster home to interact with the dog in his most familar setting. We adopt only to "inside homes." We believe pets are family members and should always be treated with kindness! All of our dogs and puppies are spayed and neutered before they go to their new homes. They also receive additional vet care such as an exam, age-appropriate vaccines and tests, wormings, and started on flea and heartworm preventative. Currently our adoption fee is $180 to assist us with vet care, housing and food during the foster process. All of our pets have the same adoption fee regardless of age or breed. Purebreds or mutts - we value them equally. Four million dogs - 10,958 per day - are killed in animal shelters each year. We want to do our part to help reduce this number to zero. Please help us in our fight to reduce this number by having your pets spayed or neutered. Please also opt to adopt when looking for a new pet!
